Project Description

Buni Meldware Communication Suite is an enterprise
groupware product providing an email server,
calendar server, and a Web mail client. The Web
mail portion is written using Adobe's Flash and
provides a rich cross-browser experience. Protocol
support includes IMAP, POP, SMTP, iCAL, WCAP, and
more. It uniquely supports full database email
storage as well as file system storage of emails
on major database platforms, and is easily
installed via a Web Start graphical installation
process.

This is the first milestone release with WCAP,
freebusy for webmail, and mature IMAP all
together. It has undergone extensive hardening,
dogfooding, and QA testing. The WCAP protocol for
calendaring now works well for Thunderbird and
Lightning 0.3. Webmail calendaring was greatly
improved. The abillity to download attachments has
been added to the webmail interface. Numerous
performance improvements have been made in SMTP,
IMAP, and MIME parsing since 1.0-M7.

This release includes fixes for PostgreSQL, performance improvements (especially for Expunge), and folder update notifications. The clustered Event-bus is disabled by default as it caused some people issues with their network.

The Web Calendar/Webmail client now supports
"Freebusy". WCAP (calendar protocol) support has
been stabilized for the Mozilla
Thunderbird/Lightning client. IMAPS is now
supported. The spam filtering from the last
release is now generally improved and there is an
option to enable it in the installer.

This is the first really usable IMAP release. There are great performance leaps in MIME, IMAP, and storage areas. There is a new Flash calendar for the Web client, and attachments for the Web client. A new graphical administration tool has been added. Some Japanese translation has been done.
