Project Description

SecureServ is an IRC trojan detector. It's much like a virus scanner,
but aimed at IRC networks. Using several methods, including version
checks, behavior analysis, and general pattern matching, it aims to
detect trojans, viruses, and floodbots which connect to your IRC
network. Its "brains" are based on a "Definition file" which contains
information on how to detect trojans. To update detection for new
trojans, you only have to download a new file.

Several updates were made to support the latest
Neostats 3.0 release. Bugs were fixed. Several
features, such as flood prevention, have been
moved to a new module, FloodServ. SecureServ now
utilizes NeoNet for reporting of vulnerable hosts
for reporting and DNS blacklist support.

This version fixes errors with the MonBots acting
correctly with recieved messages, leaving channels
when they are empty, the ability for IRCops to
specify the modes that a MonBot uses, and a KILL
action for some signatures.

This release fixed segmentation faults with the
monbots cycling channels. Channels are now scanned
when linking to the network so existing channels will
be banned. A few potential bugs were fixed.

This release adds lots of bugfixes. Several functions have been enhanced
to provide speedups where possible. MonBots and Onjoin bots can now
monitor channel messages for typical virus/trojan/spam-like messages.
Monbots will now cycle the channels they are monitoring to catch onjoin
message viruses and DCC sends. SecureServ will now warn operators when
it detects a server on the network that is out of sync with regards to
Time issues, and helpers can now change their passwords.

IRC administrators can now maintain their own definitions file. Help text has been cleaned up. Onjoin bots now have a random version reply to look more like real users, and onjoin bots will not check channels that are already monitored with a monbot. There is updated documentation and many bugfixes for existing code.
