Project Description

OtfBot is a modular IRC bot. It has modules to respond to !commands, answer to keywords, post RDF headlines in the channel, kick users because of bad words, interact with the user with an A.I. (megahal and others), display 8-ball quotes, and much more. New plugins can be created in minutes.

Final fixes since rc1. Catches SyntaxErrors in plugins so that the bot can run even if some plugin is broken. Files for building a Debian package. URL loading no longer blocks the bot.

This release fixed an annoying problem that caused the bot to join #nickserv because of a bug in detecting if a privmsg is a query, Color functions were moved to their own library. Last URL detection was fixed in url-plugin. Documentation was updated. A logPrivate option was added for disabling logging of queries for privacy. There were some other, more minor changes.

Code from git master was merged. Many fixes were made. Basic i18n was added. More Unicode support was added. A dependencies system was added, allowing plugins to become active after a needed service is started. Much more was done.

This release uses the Twisted service framework, not just twisted-words. Many changes in plugins, more documentation, and a cleaner API. This is a beta release, so users do not need to use outdated 0.9.1. 0.9.x will not be maintained anymore.
