This release fixes a bug in mke2fs which caused stack garbage to be
written to disk when zapping disk sectors. (This bug could cause

This release adds initial support for extended attributes. Fixes were made for
e2fsck's symlink sanity checking, error handling, and memory leaks. Clearing of
inodes and initial external journal support were added to e2fsck. E2image can
now create raw image files. Support for the 64-bit block device patches was
added. The requirement to run fsck on a filesystem after removing a journal was
removed. The check of an ext3 filesystem and the creation of an internal
journal were made faster. Support for the filesystem type "auto" was added to
fsck. Other miscellaneous fixes were made.
